Born in 1972 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Thomas Myhr’s journey into the world of backgammon began in 1992 when a friend introduced him to the game. Initially, backgammon was merely a leisure activity for him, perceived as a game of chance rather than skill. However, his perspective underwent a significant transformation in 1999 when he stumbled upon Bill Robertie’s seminal work, “501 Problems”. This encounter sparked a deep fascination with the strategic complexities of backgammon, leading Myhr to delve into the theory and intricacies of the game.

Thomas Myhr’s contributions to the Danish backgammon scene earned him international acclaim. In 2013, he was selected to represent Denmark in the esteemed DK vs World event at the Nordic Open, marking the beginning of his tenure as a regular team member until the event concluded in 2016. Myhr’s commitment to representing Denmark on the international stage has been unwavering. Since 2016, he has been an integral part of the Danish National team, contributing significantly to its success. The Danish team has achieved remarkable results, clinching victory in the European Team Backgammon Championship twice and securing third place on two occasions since the inception of the event in 2014. His stellar performance and unwavering dedication culminated in his induction as a Super Grandmaster by the Danish Backgammon Federation in 2018, a testament to his exceptional skill and expertise.

Beyond his own competitive pursuits, Thomas Myhr is deeply committed to sharing his knowledge and expertise with aspiring backgammon enthusiasts. Fluent in English, French, and Danish, he serves as a revered teacher and mentor, imparting invaluable insights and strategies to students across the globe. Whether through private coaching sessions or instructional materials, Myhr’s passion for the game is evident in his dedication to fostering the growth and development of fellow players.
