Backgammon Connection – Terms and Conditions

Please read carefully.  By registering, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

Backgammon Connection is a privately run tournament and reserves the right to refuse entry with no reason required.

1. General Principles – Backgammon Connection is not a gambling platform. All events are for fun, skill-building, and the opportunity to win fully paid trips, educational experiences, and exclusive gifts. Our mission is to grow the global backgammon community through fair competition and unique incentives. We are committed to making backgammon more accessible and affordable for players around the globe by hosting exclusive online qualifiers. In these qualifiers, players can win all-expenses-paid packages to top international championships.

2. Tournament Director Responsibilities – The Tournament Director (TD) ensures fair play and enjoyable experiences for all players. TDs may appoint Tournament Assistants (TAs) to help manage events.

  • The TD reserves the right to make decisions in the interest of fairness, even if that means interpreting rules flexibly.
  • In disputes, the ruling may favor the non-offending player when a conflict arises due to another player’s actions.
  • If a player disagrees with the TD’s ruling, they may appeal the decision to the Backgammon Connection Committee, whose determination will be final.

3. Match Rules & Format

  • Matches follow internationally accepted backgammon rules using the Doubling Cube.
  • Standard format: single-elimination, 13-point matches or 11-point matches unless otherwise stated.
  • All matches are played on Heroes (Backgammon Studio Heroes), in a designated room where all the game settings are ready, unless otherwise specified.
  • Time-controlled matches are final if a player loses on time.
  • Each round is launched every 48 hours to accommodate flexible scheduling unless otherwise stated.
  • WhatsApp groups will be created within 3 hours of the draw for players to coordinate directly unless otherwise stated.

4. Technical Issues

  • If disconnected, players must notify the TD and have 15 minutes to reconnect and resume the match.
  • If resumption does not occur, the TD will reschedule.
  • If a result cannot be verified via server history or mutual confirmation, the match must be replayed.

5. Fair Play & Conduct

  • No external help allowed: books, notes, spreadsheets, bot analysis tools, or human assistance.
  • Cheating results in disqualification, permanent ban, and notification to platform administrators.
  • All participants must act with courtesy and respect — no public arguing or unsportsmanlike conduct.
  • Matches must be open for spectators unless specified otherwise.
  • Backgammon Connection keeps track of player performance and PR (Performance Rating), and reserves the right to disqualify any player for repeated unusual performance patterns, without any compromising for the entry fee or prizes.
  • Backgammon Connection may request PR from new players for verification and to keep track of their performance.
  • Matches are recorded and reviewed. Live video may be requested by the Tournament Director at any time.
  • A Ruling Committee may be called upon in disputes:

Arda Findikoglu

Fernando Neumark

Andrew Selby

6. Scheduling Matches

  • Players must confirm match times by email, screenshot, or via the official WhatsApp group.
  • Matches should be publicly posted in advance.
  • If a player is unresponsive within 48 hours from the beginning of that round, they may forfeit.
  • No-shows: If a player fails to appear, the opponent wins incrementally (1-0 after 15 minutes, 3-0 after 20 minutes, 5-0 after 25 minutes, full win after 30 minutes).
  • If players can’t reach an agreement, the TD may choose a time based on options offered or schedule the match at the deadline. Less available players may be disqualified.

7. Cameras & Verification

  • Players may be required to use a camera during matches upon request, especially in final stages.
  • For players under 12, parental contact and consent are mandatory.

8. Age Policy

  • Players under 16 may only participate with parental consent if an entry fee is required.
  • Free tournaments are open to all.

9. Code of Conduct

  • All players and staff are expected to conduct themselves with integrity.
  • Repeated disconnections or public disputes will result in penalties.
  • Disputes must be taken privately to the TD.

10. Tournament Integrity & Promotion

  • Backgammon Connection reserves the right to stream, record, or publish event content for promotional and educational purposes.
  • By entering a qualifier or event, players agree to public visibility and transparency.

11. Ongoing Qualifiers Qualifiers for major events may remain open throughout the year. The finals conclude approximately one month before the live tournament. Backgammon Connection handles global promotion, participant recruitment, and tournament buzz through:
