The Secluded thatched-roof restuarant and bar equipped with top class amenities, secure parking and even a beach volleyball court is rated 4,5 out of 5 on trip advisor and #2 in Ocho Rios. The hugely sucessful tournament put Jamaica on the world's backgammon map. It was also listed on the website of the World Backgammon Federation.

Main Event Format

Full double-elimination, no re-buys. You can still win first place with one loss. Eliminated with two losses. No Last Chance. Players who lose a match drop to a Fighters bracket. The winner of the Fighters bracket plays the last undefeated player in a single Finals match.

Play begins at Noon on Saturday and continues through Sunday!

Both divisions are 11 pts in Main, 9 pts in Fighters, 90% payout. All Side Pools are 95% payout.

There will be a minimum of $6,000 USD ADDED money distributed as follows:

Championship Division $5,000 USD – Advanced Division $1,000 USD

Each division will pay at least three places, depending on the number of entries.

The Advanced Division is limited to players not considered to be strong Championship-level players.

The Jamaica International Backgammon Championship proudly features Phil Simborg as one of the professional voters, who also provides expert commentary throughout the event. The tournament is directed by Jeb Horton, ensuring a well-organized and competitive experience.

This prestigious event attracts many of the world’s top players, including Mochy, Michy, Akiko, David Wells, Bob Wachtel, Michael, Diego, Ralph Burd, and others—making it a highlight on the international backgammon calendar and a must-attend for serious players and fans alike!
