Juergen Orlowski, a prominent figure in the world of backgammon, hails from Germany and is renowned as one of the country’s top backgammon masters. Born in 1970 in Würzburg, Germany, Orlowski has established himself as a formidable force in the backgammon community, steadily climbing the ranks since his debut in the 2007 Giants of Backgammon list. Currently residing in Ulm, Germany, Orlowski’s journey in backgammon has been marked by notable achievements and victories.

Orlowski’s prowess in backgammon is exemplified by his impressive trajectory in the Giants of Backgammon rankings. From ranking #51 in 2007, he has ascended to the #27 position in the most recent rankings, surpassing esteemed players like Ralf Jonas and Dirk Schiemann to become a distinguished representative of Germany in the global backgammon scene.

Among his notable triumphs, Orlowski clinched victory at the Saint Amand Backgammon Trophy in 2007, triumphing over renowned French backgammon master François Tardieu in a thrilling 21-point final. This victory not only earned him €25,000 but also secured him a coveted seat at the prestigious PGT Grand Finale.

His impressive list of victories includes triumphs at prestigious tournaments around the world: Brasov, Romania 2024, Cyprus Merit 2023, Mures Open 2023, Istavder Istanbul 2018, Gibraltar 2016, Sochi Main & Doubles 2015, Cyprus Nicosia 2014, Portugal 2013, Istavder Istanbul 2010, Partouche Saint Amand 2007, French Open Paris 2005, and Helsinki Open 1998.

Beyond his achievements in backgammon, Orlowski holds a master’s degree in mathematics, specializing in statistics, with a minor in computer science. He brings a wealth of expertise from his previous professional endeavors as a software engineer for esteemed companies like Nokia, Siemens, and Telefonica. Currently, Orlowski spearheads his own company focused on fiberglass-internet build-outs in southern Germany, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and innovative vision.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Orlowski takes pride in his family, including his accomplished daughter Anastasia, who claimed victory at the German student championships in 2018. Orlowski’s dedication to excellence, both on and off the backgammon board, continues to inspire and leave an indelible mark on the global backgammon community.
